The pace of star-rated hotel development in Jakarta has remained constant over the past five and ten years (2014-2019 & 2009-2019). Over the period, the number of star-rated hotel rooms has grown from almost 26,200 in 2009 to 55,800, a CAGR of 8% as illustrated in the table below.

Over the same period the growth of non-star hotel development has quickened, growing from about 6,300 rooms in 2009 to about 18,600 in 2019, a CAGR of 11% and from 11,700 in 2014 to 18,600 in 2019, a CAGR of 17%.

With 101 star-rated hotels and 47 non-star hotels, Jakarta Selatan was the fastest growing municipality over the past five years, growing from just over 7,800 rooms in 2014 to about 21,100 rooms in 2019, a CAGR of 22%. This was assisted by the growth in non-star rooms, which grew from almost 600 rooms in 2014 to about 7,500 in 2019, a CAGR of 66%.

  • Jakarta Selatan – Star Rated 12%, Non-Star Rated 66%
  • Jakarta Timur – Star-Rated 15%, Non-Star Rated 1%
  • Jakarta Pusat – Star-Rated 7%, Non-Star Rated 8%
  • Jakarta Barat – Star Rated 7%, Non-Star Rated 9%
  • Jakarta Utara – Star-Rated 10%, Non-Star Rated 1%
